Success and Intelligence vs Society

In a world of different personalities, the majority of us have one thing in common and that is to be happy. That can be achieved in many different ways and in my opinion it is to be successful. By this I don’t mean to have loads of money and to live an expensive lifestyle. I mean to be successful in what you choose to do or how you choose to live your life.

Success is defined as “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose”. We all have goals whether they are big or small they are goals nevertheless.

I want to be successful. I want to be successful in helping other people. I find helping other people whether that may be to simply put a smile on their face is one of life’s greatest joys.

To be successful in the field you choose, it is important to understand how. There is a famous quote by Richard Branson that I find quite frankly genius. “If someone offers you an amazing opportunity and you’re not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later.” You see people let a lot of opportunities slip away because they don’t feel qualified enough. Because they don’t have enough knowledge on it etc. The problem is they know they would actually love to do it. For me if you have a desire to do it, don’t let what you can’t do influence your decision. If its a burning desire then you will say yes and go out and learn how to do it.

Think about how many opportunities you’ve missed out of fear or doubt.

Success to me is being happy. If you are doing what makes you happy then you are very successful indeed. To be happy is to be successful, to be successful is to live.

It is like intelligence for example, intelligence isn’t the degrees you hold or the exams you have passed. Intelligence is the way you go out and live your life, it is your common sense, your life experiences and teachings and it is your reaction to things. Society makes us feel as though all the desirable qualities can only be achieved by few however I think they can be achieved by us all because society’s definition is not the right definition.

Never think that you are any less smart than someone else because you may not have done the best at school, don’t think that because you don’t have a specific ‘talent’ that you are not talented. We all have a purpose and a reason why we are here. No one else is like you, you are talented and smart in your own ways and you can be successful if you take control and decide that you are happy with your life. If you aren’t happy then go out and change it because only you have that power.
